Los Gallos is a must visit if you love Tacos and live anywhere in Philadelphia. This is a colorful restaurant with a unique decor. The fact that it is also BYOB is certainly a plus. Parking may be difficult but the wait will be worth it. Their menu is extensive and everything was bursting with flavor. We recommend trying the al pastor and the short rib taco.
Taqueria La Prima is another excellent small taqueria that delivers on flavor in South Philly. It’s very easy to just walk by here but trust me when I say, you will not be disappointed by stopping in. You can never just order one and when they arrive, it immediately takes you back to Mexico or California with it’s authenticity. The restaurant lives up to it’s name of La Prima and they are open late. The el pastor is their signature but the chorizo won’t let you down.
Restaurant Taqueria El Jarocho is a small mom and pop Mexican restaurant that feels comfortable and authentic. This South Philly taqueria is located down the block from the Broad St Diner and is a BYOB location so we advise bringing some cold Modelos or Coronas. We recommend you trying all the tacos here because everything is flavorful.
At Taqueria La Veracruzana, it’s hard to not find anything you like on this unique menu. This authentic Mexican restaurant located in the Italian Market of South Philly. They have many specialty tacos such as Lengua Taco, Jalapeños Rellenos De Queso Taco, Tinga De Pollo Taco and Pollo Guisado En Salsa De Jitomate Taco. If you aren’t looking to try something different, the chorizo and al pastor are still recommended.
Mission Taqueria is a must visit taco restaurant located in Center City, Philly. They have an open kitchen set up with a wood grill that adds to the ambience. Their fresh ground masa tortillas are made to order and always fresh. They are known for “Tacolab”, where they have special guest chefs curate custom taco menus for a one night only event. The menu changes every month so we suggest checking their website to see who the guest chef will be and what the menu will contain.
